Ooooooh! You are going the "religiously/historically significant artifact" route!! How wonderful!

(BTW, I once heard somewhere that if you would put together all the alleged "pieces of the true cross" that are in reliquaries somewhere, you would get a cross that is way too large...)

Edit: Also, does Lena know about Maerc having this thing? I mean, she has a "shopping list"...

OH SHIT

you gotta hold that thought, because (just to restate the obvious) Maerc's not showing off a spear, he's showing off a sword and I'm gonna explain that dammit

regardless of how this turns out, Lena would need a very resourceful cast of named primary characters to make a credible attempt at this artifact. I'm talking using your mainline Cryptida folks against probably the most outright violent members of the Lirverse... there is no good outcome there o_0

In this particular case, Lena would probably be more likely to hire professional thieves instead... ;-)
Luckily though for everyone's wellbeing, they also have a way better grasp concerning the risk assessment for stuff like this.
(Man, I didn't draw those two for a long time...)

THAT is a funny side comic

and I agree, a fairly realistic appraisal of what they'd be up against.

So the "Spear" was a Gladius?

This is a cool twist! I think you could do a lot of interesting work in the ancient world Tales of Herodotus setting!

I appreciate your confidence, but I think you will be rather unimpressed by my command of the ancient tongues.

Having circled back after looking at the next several pages, I like your version of the vernacular better!

Also, every time I read panel two (which is like four times now) I hear Invincible from Fear Inoculum...

Heavy shield, hangs low...

Yeah, I figured because of the Christmas season this would be as good time as any to get super blasphemous and stuff.
